The ProTool Experience

Inside a ProTool Build

Anyone can bolt equipment to a frame. Building a damn good skid takes more.

Get inside the engineering, equipment, and decisions behind a ProTool skid. We'll show you what we use, why we use it, and what you can choose for your own rig.

More Than a Parts List

Every Component Has a Purpose.

A great skid isn't about cramming the most equipment into the smallest space. It's about making everything work together. Pumps, tanks, plumbing, controls, framing, and electrical systems all have a job to do.

This is your behind-the-scenes guide to the ProTool approach. Explore the components, learn what matters, and discover the possibilities for your next build. Some choices are simple. Others deserve a little engineering. That's what we're here for.

Chapter 01

The Foundation

Before we choose a pump, we build something worth mounting it to.

01 / FRAME & CONSTRUCTION

A Damn Good Build Starts at the Bottom.

We're not interested in mounting expensive equipment to a cheap frame and calling it a day.

ProTool skids use an all-aluminum design with a welded base and bolt-together framework. Structural aluminum extrusions, including 40×40 and 40×80 profiles, give us a versatile foundation for mounting equipment and creating practical layouts.

The welded base provides a solid foundation, while the bolted framework allows us to arrange components around the actual needs of the build.

Why You Give a Damn Corrosion resistance, accessible components, and a frame designed for real equipment—not just a pretty photograph.
Make It Yours — Frame Options
  • Compact or full-size skid footprints
  • Custom equipment mounting and frame layouts
  • Standalone, truck, van, and trailer applications
  • Accessory mounts and space for future equipment
Final dimensions and structural requirements depend on the equipment and intended platform.

02 / CHOOSE YOUR PLATFORM

Where's This Beast Going?

A compact pickup skid and a fully equipped enclosed trailer solve very different problems. The platform determines how much equipment, water, storage, and working space you can realistically carry.

We consider payload, access, weight distribution, operating environment, and how your crew deploys equipment before committing to a layout.

Why You Give a Damn The right platform gives you the capacity you need without turning your daily operation into a logistical nightmare.
Make It Yours — Platform Choices
  • Standalone skids for existing vehicles
  • Van-mounted systems for enclosed equipment storage
  • Pickup and commercial truck builds
  • Open utility trailers
  • Enclosed equipment trailers
  • Flatbed and specialty vehicle installations

03 / LAYOUT & ACCESS

Just Because It Fits Doesn't Mean It Belongs There.

Tank placement, engine clearance, hose deployment, maintenance access, and vehicle balance all matter. A great layout is one you appreciate every single day.

We arrange components around how the rig will actually be used. That includes access to service points, operator controls, and the equipment that gets touched most often.

Why You Give a Damn Less reaching, less climbing, fewer obstacles, and better access when equipment needs attention.
Make It Yours — Layout Options
  • Curbside, rear, or multi-side equipment access
  • Custom reel and control placement
  • Storage, racks, and accessory positioning
  • Layouts for single or multiple operators
  • Tank and equipment placement based on weight

Chapter 02

The Cleaning Systems

The muscle behind the machine. Let's talk about what actually gets the work done.

04 / PRESSURE WASHING

Bring the Pressure. And the Flow.

PSI gets plenty of attention. But when you're cleaning large surfaces, GPM can make a huge difference in how efficiently you move through a job.

We size pressure washers around the application, operator count, water supply, and equipment demands. Engines, pumps, plumbing, and hose packages need to work together—not compete with each other.

Why You Give a Damn The right pressure washer helps you clean efficiently without paying for capacity you don't need—or wishing you'd bought more.
Make It Yours — Pressure Washer Options
  • 4–5.5 GPM for lighter commercial and residential work
  • 8 GPM for higher-volume cleaning
  • 10.5 GPM and larger-capacity configurations
  • Single or multiple pressure washers
  • Application-specific engine, pump, and drive choices
  • Cold-water or hot-water integration
Actual performance depends on the selected system.

05 / HOT WATER

Sometimes Water Needs an Attitude Adjustment.

Hot water can be a serious advantage when you're tackling grease, oil, and other demanding cleaning applications.

But adding heat means more than installing a burner. We consider fuel storage, burner capacity, controls, plumbing compatibility, ventilation, and how the system integrates with the rest of the rig.

Why You Give a Damn The right hot-water system expands what your crew can tackle. The wrong one adds cost and complexity.
Make It Yours — Hot Water Options
  • Cold-water-only pressure washing
  • Integrated hot-water burner systems
  • Fuel storage and burner control configurations
  • Hot-water-compatible hose and plumbing packages
  • Commercial applications requiring heated water
PHOTO: Hot-water burner, coil, and fuel system
06 / SOFT WASHING

Big Results. Without Blasting Everything in Sight.

Not every surface needs high pressure. Soft washing uses appropriate chemical application and controlled delivery to tackle surfaces that require a different approach.

ProTool builds can incorporate BPX25 or higher-flow P40 soft wash systems, with pumps, plumbing, tanks, and controls selected for the intended workload.

Why You Give a Damn Dedicated soft wash capability gives your crew another way to work without forcing a pressure washer to do every job.
Make It Yours — Soft Wash Options
  • BPX25 configurations, approximately 7 GPM
  • P40 configurations, approximately 11 GPM
  • Soft-wash-only or combined PW/SW rigs
  • Manual or remote operating controls
  • Dedicated chemical tanks and hose reels
Pump selection depends on the application and complete system design.

07 / CHEMICAL METERING

Control Your Mix. Don't Guess at It.

Chemical application isn't just about moving liquid. It's about controlling what goes into the mix, how it's delivered, and how the system is rinsed and maintained.

Depending on the build, we integrate chemical metering, independent supply lines, valves, bypasses, and application-specific pressure regulation.

Why You Give a Damn Better control helps operators manage chemical use and switch between tasks with less hassle.
Make It Yours — Chemical Control Options
  • Manual chemical metering manifolds
  • Separate bleach, water, and surfactant feeds
  • Remote chemical selection on applicable builds
  • System isolation and rinsing arrangements
  • Integrated BPX25 pressure regulation where appropriate

08 / PURE WATER PRODUCTION

Stop Burning Through DI Resin.

Pure water is essential for water-fed pole window cleaning and many specialty cleaning applications. But producing it efficiently matters just as much as having it available.

ProTool HydroPanel RO/DI systems use reverse osmosis to remove much of the dissolved mineral load before final DI polishing. That can significantly reduce resin consumption compared with DI-only production.

Production rate and delivery flow are different things. A properly sized DI tank can deliver high flow, but HydroPanel's advantage is efficient continuous pure-water production.

Why You Give a Damn Lower potential resin costs, high-output production, and fewer interruptions waiting for purified water.
Make It Yours — HydroPanel Options
  • HydroPanel capacities matched to demand
  • Single or multiple RO/DI production systems
  • Dedicated pure-water storage tanks
  • Production and delivery systems sized separately
  • Multi-operator and specialty cleaning configurations
Production depends on feed-water conditions and the selected equipment.
PHOTO: ProTool HydroPanel RO/DI system installed on a skid
09 / PURE WATER DELIVERY

Making Pure Water Is One Thing. Getting It to Work Is Another.

Once water is purified, it needs to reach the operator at the appropriate flow and pressure.

Delivery pumps, controllers, hose runs, and storage capacity all play a role. We design the delivery side around operator count, working height, and application demands—not simply the RO system's production rating.

Why You Give a Damn Reliable water delivery keeps your crew cleaning instead of babysitting equipment.
Make It Yours — Delivery Options
  • 12V delivery pump configurations
  • Remote pump controllers
  • Single or multiple operator supply
  • Dedicated pure-water hose reels
  • Water-fed pole storage and accessories

Chapter 03

The Supporting Equipment

The pumps get the glory. These details make the whole rig work.

10 / TANKS & STORAGE

Water Is Heavy. Planning Matters.

Raw water, purified water, bleach, surfactant, wastewater, and fuel may all need dedicated storage. Every gallon adds weight, and every tank takes space.

We plan tank capacities and placement around actual operating requirements, available payload, plumbing, and vehicle balance.

Why You Give a Damn Enough capacity to get the job done, without building a rolling collection of unnecessary weight.
Make It Yours — Tank Options
  • Raw-water buffer tanks
  • Dedicated bleach and chemical storage
  • Surfactant and specialty chemical tanks
  • Pure-water storage
  • Wastewater and reclaim storage where needed
  • Gasoline and diesel storage configurations

11 / HOSE REELS

Stop Fighting Your Hoses.

You've got better things to do than wrestle hundreds of feet of hose at the end of a long day.

Reel placement, hose diameter, pressure rating, capacity, and rewind method all affect the way a rig works in the field.

Why You Give a Damn Faster setup, easier cleanup, and a more organized rig.
Compare — Manual vs. Electric Reels

Manual Reels

Simple, straightforward, and generally less expensive. A solid choice when keeping the build uncomplicated is the priority.

Electric Reels

Push-button rewind reduces manual effort, particularly useful with long hoses and multiple reels.

Other choices: Reel count, hose length, diameter, mounting orientation, and dedicated reels for each cleaning system.

12 / PLUMBING & FLOW

A Big Pump Means Nothing If You Starve It.

Plumbing isn't the most glamorous part of a skid. It might be one of the most important.

Supply-line diameter, strainers, filters, fittings, bypasses, valves, and routing all affect system performance and serviceability.

We pay attention to getting water into the equipment as well as getting it out. High-flow systems need appropriately sized supply plumbing.

Why You Give a Damn Proper plumbing helps equipment perform as intended and makes troubleshooting and maintenance easier.
Make It Yours — Plumbing Options
  • Supply-line sizing based on system demand
  • Dedicated water and chemical circuits
  • Filters, strainers, and service valves
  • Manifolds and bypass arrangements
  • Custom routing for accessibility and protection
PHOTO: Close-up of ProTool supply plumbing, valves, and manifold
13 / REMOTE CONTROLS

Run the Rig. Not Back to the Rig.

Walking back to the truck every time you need to change a setting gets old fast.

Depending on the equipment, ProTool remote systems can put useful controls in the operator's hands, including engine functions, chemical selection, and water delivery controls.

Why You Give a Damn Less back-and-forth, more time working, and better control from where the job is happening.
Make It Yours — Control Options
  • Manual controls
  • Remote start/stop on compatible systems
  • Remote chemical selection
  • Remote pure-water delivery controls
  • Skid Nexus Core and Pro configurations
  • Integrated control panels for complex builds
Functions and range depend on the selected system.

Chapter 04

The Finishing Touches

The stuff you might overlook when shopping—and appreciate every day afterward.

14 / ELECTRICAL & POWER

Good Wiring Isn't Optional.

Electric reels, lighting, controls, charging systems, and auxiliary equipment all need reliable power.

We plan electrical systems around the demands of the build, including battery capacity, circuit protection, wire routing, and charging arrangements.

Why You Give a Damn A thoughtfully designed electrical system supports the equipment you depend on instead of becoming another thing to worry about.
Make It Yours — Electrical Options
  • Auxiliary batteries
  • Vehicle charging integration
  • Shore power where applicable
  • Protected circuits and dedicated switches
  • Power for electric reels and specialty equipment
PHOTO: Electrical enclosure, switches, battery, and protected wiring
15 / LIGHTING

Light Up the Job. Not Just the Spec Sheet.

Early starts, late finishes, roadside work, and equipment inspections all benefit from proper lighting.

We can integrate work lights, warning lights, and independently controlled lighting zones into the electrical design of the rig.

Why You Give a Damn Better visibility around the equipment and work area, particularly when daylight isn't cooperating.
Make It Yours — Lighting Options
  • LED work lights
  • Rear, side, and perimeter lighting
  • Amber warning lights
  • Independent lighting controls
  • Custom lighting packages

16 / STORAGE & ACCESSORIES

Everything Has a Place. Or It Should.

Ladders, surface cleaners, water-fed poles, tools, and accessories need to travel with the rig. Tossing them wherever they fit isn't much of a plan.

We incorporate storage and mounting solutions into the layout so the equipment you use every day is accessible and properly organized.

Why You Give a Damn Less clutter, easier access, and fewer headaches getting ready for the next job.
Make It Yours — Storage Options
  • Ladder racks
  • Water-fed pole holders
  • Surface cleaner storage
  • Tool and accessory mounts
  • Custom brackets and equipment storage
PHOTO: Ladder rack, pole holders, and equipment storage
17 / SPECIALTY EQUIPMENT

We Like Building the Wild Stuff, Too.

Some operations need more than pressure washing and soft washing. Drone cleaning, solar panel cleaning, and multi-operator specialty systems introduce new demands.

That's where custom integration really matters. Water production, delivery, controls, storage, and equipment access must be designed as a system.

Why You Give a Damn More capabilities on one platform, engineered around the way your operation works.
Make It Yours — Specialty Options
  • Drone cleaning support equipment
  • Solar brush systems
  • Multi-operator pure-water delivery
  • Command Port controls on applicable trailers
  • Custom equipment and specialty integrations

19 / COMPLETE SYSTEM TESTING

We Test the Whole Damn Thing.

A pump working on its own doesn't prove that an entire skid works together.

Before a completed ProTool skid ships, we test the integrated equipment and systems. That means checking the build as a working rig, not simply trusting that every individual component should function.

Why You Give a Damn More confidence in the complete system before it reaches your operation.
What Goes Into a Complete Build?

The exact testing process depends on the equipment installed. Pressure washing, soft washing, pure-water production, electrical functions, and controls are evaluated as applicable to the build.
